Biography

Tru Klassick was born and raised in Michigan as a kid in the early 90’s listening to his mothers music collection. A collection of music spanning from Detroit’s Klassick Motown sound from the Early 60's artists, to the 70's and 80's Soul, Funk, and Disco sound. From a state known to be the home of some the World's greatest music and later known for birthing one of Hip Hops most prolific producers, J-Dilla, and rapper, Eminem.

Influenced by home town artists such as One Be Lo and Athletic Mic League (Mayer Hawthorn, Jamall Bufford, 14KT) he got his first start at One Be Lo’s Monthly Open Mic and many other local talent shows, and showcases. After releasing his first mixtape in 2012, Klassick stepped up his game and found himself opening for Devin The Dude and Bizarre of D12 at his hometown venue, Blind Pig. Following a very successful 2012 he was booked to open for Smoke DZA and Trinidad Jame$ in 2013 which lead to shows with Flatbush Zombies, Denzel Curry, Big KRIT, GZA of Wu Tang, Tory Lanez, Royce Da 59, Jay Electronica, and Snow Tha Product in which a full house demanded an encore.

Klassick released the Blaze 1 Mixtape in the Fall of 2014, followed by a series music videos. In the Summer of 2016 he did a solo, 10 date, mid west to east coast tour to promote the duo release of Blaze 2 and Illoopinati Beat Tape which was a great success. He since has released his first album “Mastah Chief LP” in 2019. Tru hit the road again for the Einstein On Acid tour from 2019-2020. A 50 date tour spanning from Portland, ME to Portland, OR. While on the west coast, he linked up with One Be Lo and finished his tour with the Hip Hop veteran.
